Meet Meaghan
Meaghan Doyle, MS, CGC (she/her)
Meaghan is a Certified Genetic Counselor and the Founder of DNAide Genetic Counselling. She has expertise in fertility genetics and specializes in helping patients understand mosaic and abnormal PGT-A results as well as exploring potential genetic causes for infertility and IVF failure. She is passionate about advocating for patients so that they can make the choices that are right for them, ensuring they have the information they need to do so.
Meaghan’s Passion for Fertility Genetics
Meaghan started her career in fertility genetics in 2018 as the in-house genetic counsellor at a fertility clinic in Ontario, Canada. At this time PGT laboratories were starting to report mosaic PGT-A results more frequently and staff at the clinic recognized the value that Meaghan’s genetics expertise brought to the team when working with these complex results.
Very few genetic counsellors specialize in fertility genetics and so in 2020 Meaghan joined Instagram @MeaghanDoyleGC to provide education on topics relating to fertility genetics. Patients connected with Meaghan’s calm and clear communication style.
In March 2022 Meaghan launched DNAide Genetic Counselling. She found that many patients were feeling confused about what their genetic results meant, and often left their fertility clinics with more questions than answers about genetics. DNAide is a way for Meaghan to bridge the gap, offering compassionate care to patients without being affiliated with their fertility clinic or genetic testing laboratory.
Currently Meaghan sees patients privately through DNAide. She also works to educate healthcare providers on emerging topics in fertility genetics, and conducts independent research.
Meaghan’s Early Career
Sensitive and caring, Meaghan always knew she wanted to work to help people. She fell in love with genetics during her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto. To prepare for graduate school she worked with Sunnybrook's Cancer Genetics Program as a Genetics Assistant, helping people understand their risk of developing breast cancer. She studied genetic counselling at Arcadia University in Pennsylvania. Her thesis, titled "The Mannogram",explored what it was like for men at a high risk of breast cancer to get mammograms.
While in Philadelphia, Meaghan had a clinical rotation at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's Center for Fetal Therapy where she helped support families who had recently learned that their babies had severe birth differences. Supporting growing families in times of extreme stress and need was ultimately what would inspire Meaghan to work towards a career in fertility genetics.
After returning to Toronto, Canada, Meaghan worked at The Hospital for Sick Children in their Genome Clinic, using whole genome sequencing to help find rare genetic diagnoses for children.
